The Carpetology Blog

Posted 10/27/2010:

Welcome to The Carpetology Blog!

Since launching this blog in December 2007, there's been considerable change.  Solutia is no longer in the Carpetology Blog picture; Mohawk acquired Wear-Dated and I feel such pride toward this blog that - despite no direct connection to Solutia, carpet, Wear-Dated or Mohawk - I maintain this blog and keep it fresh with carpet related content.

I welcome your ideas about carpet, carpet style trends, carpet innovations and other carpet-related details. I've not yet had a chance to comb through the content I published between December 2007 and March 2009 and correct broken links. I promise I'll get to that and try to recreate for you content that helps simplify the carpet shopping and purchase decision-making process.  As you find these broken links, please feel free to make note of them in a comment to the post or in an email to me at cbwhittemore [at] gmail [dot] com.

For the sake of nostalgia and continuity, I'll keep the original introduction so you know the evolution of this space.

Thanks for being part of my journey!

Best,

Original introduction:

Welcome to The Carpetology Blog, Wear-Dated's blog about all things carpet.

At Wear-Dated, we love carpet. We love walking on carpet, sitting on carpet, looking at carpet. We also love talking about carpet.

The views we express here, though, represent our personal views and not necessarily those of our company, Solutia Inc. At the same time, we've spent many years in the carpet business, we are consumers of carpet, and we love our carpet fiber. So, what we discuss here captures relevant experience with carpet.

We realize that sometimes, the business of carpet buying and caring -- not to mention simply appreciating the beauty of carpet -- can be tricky! Our goal is to constantly be on the lookout for inspiration and ideas.

Please feel free to add comments and suggestions. That’s why we created The Carpetology Blog. Whether you’re in the market for carpet, an owner of carpet, or a lover of carpet, we’re here to talk carpet.

Think of The Carpetology Blog as a family room covered in cozy shag carpet – it’s comfortable and welcoming, a warm, friendly space that invites open conversation and honest communication. All we ask is that you keep the conversation relevant to the general interest of all readers, maintain respect for everyone involved (no matter the circumstance), and offer comments that add value and depth to the conversation.

We will moderate comments, and reserve the right to exclude any offensive or irrelevant posts. But because we’d prefer the conversation to flow freely, we ask that you be respectful and simply think before you type. We promise to do the same, and although we may not be able to respond to every comment, we’ll do our best to do so in a thoughtful and timely manner.

If you have a personal comment, such as a specific Wear-Dated customer service issue, The Carpetology Blog is not the place for it. We care very much about the carpet in your home, but we can't resolve any warranty issues here.

Rather, we suggest that you follow the instructions in the Wear-Dated claim and warranty section of our website.

We also request that you not post private information – The Carpetology Blog is a public forum, so if you’d rather others didn’t see something, like a phone number or address, please refrain from including it in your comments. Otherwise, it will be edited for your safety.

We will not share any subscription information with outside parties. We may try to email you, though, for additional followup. And, we may refer to your comments in subsequent blog posts.

Thank you for reading. We're excited about the opportunity to share with you a whole wealth of ideas, links, references, suggestions and opinions relating to Beauty, Comfort, Durability and carpet!

Great information. This is the kind of information I like to repeat to my customers to inform them as well.

Carpet Cleaning San Diego, I'm delighted to hear this. What information do you find they value the most?

Best,

I do not understand the movement by so many people away from wall to wall carpet. Homes with carpet are just so much more comfortable. I loe to be barefoot in a nice room with a deep carpet and a thick pad. Life is better on carpet.

Rick, I agree with you. There's room in the house for both hard and soft surfaces and the soft surface - aka carpet - adds so many real benefits that make the space better for living in. Life is better on carpet!

Thanks for visiting.

Anonymous/carpetcarestl, I don't either! I honestly believe there's room for both surfaces types in a home.

Thanks for visiting.

Best,
CB
