Carpet Stain Removal iPhone App

Shaw Floors Carpet Stain Center App
I love practical solutions especially when they help me deal with messy hassles such as carpet stains.  The latest I've come across is an iPhone app offering specific instructions on how to remove carpet stains! It's the Shaw Floors Carpet Stain Center.

Available free, you can check it out on iTunes or download it directly to your iPhone, iTouch or iPad by searching on the exact name or also "carpet stain" [there may be a few other search terms, but my iPhone isn't cooperating at the moment].

The application lets your search alphabetically through almost 1000 different stain types. Alternatively, you can type the specific stain into a search window. Once you identify your stain, the app offers a recommended stain removal procedure, specific techniques and solutions [aka cleaning solutions] to have handy.

Some additional thoughts relating to carpet stain removal:
  • You do want to act quickly when you have a carpet stain.
  • You may want to keep handy in your home the carpet cleaning solutions listed. For example, a detergent solution in a spray bottle, water in a spray bottle, solvent, white vinegar, ammonia, ammonia/hydrogen peroxide mixture...
  • The technique to use for dealing successfully with carpet stains is "Blot, don't Rub!" Check out this post on How To Remove A Carpet Stain for more detailed instructions.
  • Removing carpet stains takes time.
I encourage you to download the app which is mighty handy for dealing with carpet stains.

And, then, let me know what you think!

  1. Apps, like this one, are great tools that can quickly provide information or advice. In addition to carpet cleaning, there are several green apps available to help individuals become more sustainable. For a quick list, check out MilliCare’s recent Fresh Perspectives blog post. And thanks for sharing stain removal tips.

  3. Hi Christine! I'm excited to try the application on my Ipod. I would like to try rescuing my carpet from my kid. He just turned 2 and he keeps on staining our carpet with his food. The last time, he accidentally knocked my ink on the carpet. My wife and I can't handle it so we decided to have a carpet cleaner (Seattlebased) to do the job. I hope next time I can handle simple stains before handling them to the experts. Thanks for sharing.

  5. Nice application from Apple though. It's like a dictionary or an encyclopedia full of information on how to do things like cleaning up the carpet when it's messy or if it has a spot of stain. It will actually help us reduce our time or effort in cleaning up the mess. What I mean is it saves time.

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. Greg, as you say, it's such a great reference app. A lesson I learned from Annette Smith at Wear-Dated was to take care of a stain as soon as possible when it happened. Talk about saving time to save your carpet!

    Thanks for commenting.

  7. Hi Christine. Since apple made this software; Is this also available on Ipad or Apple computers?

I prefer using my Ipad since my iphone is no longer in use.

Hope you can tell me if it's also available.

  8. Tophe, Shaw made this software. Check your iPad iTunes store; I wouldn't be surprised if it were indeed available. I think most iPhone apps work on the iPad although they may not be fully optimized - which shouldn't be an issue since the app is mostly text.

    Thanks for visiting.

  9. Wow I didn't even know there were 1000 different kinds of stains. A few weeks ago I accidentally dumped an entire cup of coffee onto the carpet - there's still a bit of a darker patch there. Not sure if we'll ever get rid of it at this point.

  10. Patrick, you must know given your company link!

Yes, coffee is a problem - as my Mother reminds me regularly!

Good luck with you stain and thanks for stopping by.
